At Berge Pools, we've always used the highest-qualty premium plaster for the interior pool finish.

When properly cleaned and maintained, a plaster interior will last 7 to 10 years.

Surprisingly, it's pure white plaster that gives a swimming pool it's traditional "light blue" color water color. The picture to the left shows one of my pools with a premium white plaster finish.

Well, over the past 33 years that I've been in the pool business, technology has improved. There are a variety of interior pool finishes.

A variety of pool colors are now available, thanks to special formulations of colored quartz that can be added to the plaster.

The picture to the left shows a pool with with a gray-tinted plaster. It's much darker, yet still clean and inviting.

The addition of the quartz coloring agent slightly improves the durability of the plaster. In addition, darker colored pools warm a bit better in direct sunlight... but not dramatically so (see the section about Pool Covers for more information).

The latest and best pool finish is Pebble Plaster. For this, specially-selected smooth pebbles are embedded in the surface of the plaster, and then aligned so the smooth sides all face up.

The illustration to the left shows how the pebbles are embedded in the surface of the plaster.

Actually, for this application, a very specialized polymer-enhanced plaster is used. It's designed to seat the pebbles securely, and is very, very durable. In fact, a Pebble Plaster finish will last about 5 years longer than a traditional plaster finish.

The pebbles are available in a wide range of colors, and can be mixed to provide the appearance of intermediate shades. To the left are just three of the dramatic possibilities for a Pebble Plaster finish.

As you might imagine, the installation process for the Berge Pools Pebble Plaster finish is more involved than a traditional Premium Plaster finish.

As a final step, the finished pebble surface is polished, which makes it smooth and comfortable on your feet.

Even the "feel" of our Pebble Plaster is luxurious. And coordinating the colors of the pebbles with the landscaping of your home will make your pool look spectacular!
